Frequently asked questions
I use a combination of blog posts and instagram for trip inspiration. I make my itineraries in Microsoft Word, but there are great apps out there as well.
I use Skyscanner and Google Flights to find the best flight deals. However, depending on the airline, I will book directly through an airline that I have travel benefits (ie. million miles club).
Sustainable travel is a way that minimizes the negative impact on the environment, economy, and local cultures.
It is a decision as a traveler to make the lowest impact on resources when you visit a location, making decisions that benefit the local cultures, and trying to cut back our own carbon emission when we travel.
Prioritize your spending and plan ahead of time. Flight prices can go up closer to your desired travel dates. Be flexible with travel dates and choose to travel during the low season (not as many tourists) if possible. Ditch the "bucket list" and be open to less popular travel locations. Travel slower and keep your itinerary open. Do your research.
I have done some solo travel over the years and it can be very rewarding (and scary in the beginning). If you want to travel solo, check out blogs that specialize in solo travel. Another option for solo travelers is to join up with tour groups. I have done one or two over the years as a solo traveler and it's a great way to meet people.
I highly recommend travel insurance. We live in unpredictable times with regard to travel, the environment, and global natural disasters. There are 3 companies I can recommend. SafetyWing for long term travelers or nomads. World Nomads for mid-range travelers. InsureMyTrip for travelers over 70.
I enjoy travel locations where I can learn about different cultures, food, and customs. Today, my favorite travel locations are in Southeast Asia, with Vietnam being on the top of my list. Years back, I spent my travel time exploring parts of Europe (especially Italy), and you can often find me wandering around the American Southwest.
I first started out with a love for photography, then came my love for travel. I use the Canon EOS R5 for most of my travel photography. I also carry the Leica Q2 for street photography. And, my Iphone is always in my bag. I process all of my work in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Nik Software.
No. I have stayed in places for months at a time, but my home base is in the American Southwest.
